HITA/AABB Workshop: Use of Non-Autosomal Markers
HITA and AABB invite those attending the 19th International Symposium on Human Identification to take part in the pre-symposium workshop, "Use of Non-Autosomal Markers." The development of non-autosomal genetic markers for relationship analysis brings new opportunities for analysis. Speakers at this workshop will discuss new advances in the use of STR analysis of Y-Chromosome and X-Chromosome markers as well as mitochondrial DNA sequence analysis. In addition, methods for inclusion of non-autosomal results in calculations will be presented.

When: Sunday, October 12, 2008 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Where: Renaissance Hollywood Hotel – Hollywood, CA USA

There is no charge for the workshop, however, registration is required. Questions about the workshop may be directed to Mike Baird, phone: 513-881-4026, mlb[at]dnacenter.com or Mandy Sozer, phone: 703-425-6595, dnatcs[at]starpower.net

Objectives:  After attending the HITA/AABB Workshop participants will be able to:

  • Understand non-autosomal genetic systems.
  • Determine the types of cases where non-autosomal genetic markers are useful.
  • Incorporate the statistical power of non-autosomal genetic markers into calculations.
